North Sydney Olympic Pool: Reopened Pool Under the Harbour Bridge
North Sydney Olympic Pool sits right under the Sydney Harbour Bridge at Milsons Point, next door to Luna Park, and it's back. After closing in early 2021 for a long redevelopment, the historic pool reopened in August 2026, and swimming laps with the bridge arching overhead is as surreal as ever.

It opened in 1936 and is associated with 86 world records, which makes it one of the most storied swimming venues anywhere. It's a paid-entry pool, and one of the city pools we feature in Swim New South Wales for the view alone.

Swimming at North Sydney Olympic Pool
Built in the 1930s in the Inter-War Free Classical style, the pool's Art Deco details are nearly as famous as the swimmers who've trained here, including Dawn Fraser and Murray Rose. The redevelopment kept the original 50-metre outdoor pool and heated it, so it's now a year-round lap pool with the bridge and the city skyline as your backdrop.
The new complex adds a 25-metre indoor lap pool, an indoor program pool, and a children's pool with a splash pad. Beyond the water there's a gym, fitness studios, a spa, sauna and steam room, a crèche and a café.
Early mornings are best for serious laps and soft light over the harbour. On a sunny afternoon, the tiered seating is the place to dry off and stare up at the bridge. Weekends and school holidays get busy, especially in the first months after reopening.
How to Get to North Sydney Olympic Pool
The pool is at 4 Alfred Street South, Milsons Point, directly beneath the northern end of the Harbour Bridge.
By train: take the T1 North Shore Line to Milsons Point Station, exit towards the harbour and walk about three minutes down Alfred Street. The entrance is beside Luna Park.
By ferry: catch a ferry to Milsons Point Wharf and walk about five minutes through the parkland under the bridge.
By car: cross the bridge and take the first exit for Milsons Point. Parking is limited; the Luna Park car park is paid and busy on weekends and holidays.
You can also walk across the Harbour Bridge from the city on the pedestrian path and drop straight down to the pool.
