Swimming at the Cascades & Jump Rock
The Macquarie Rivulet has carved out several incredible places to swim:
-
The Main Cascades: At the end of the official track, you'll find a stunning waterfall dropping into a large, deep pool. It's perfect for a proper swim.
-
Jump Rock: Along the way, you'll notice a smaller pool with a prominent rock ledge. This is the famous "Jump Rock." Safety Note: Always depth-check the water before jumping, as submerged logs often shift after heavy rain.
-
The Grotto: Keep an eye out for smaller, quieter side-pools where the water is crystal clear and the moss is at its most vibrant.

Expert Tips for a Better Visit
-
Leech Alert: This is a rainforest! If it has rained recently, leeches will be active. Wear long socks and check your ankles periodically.
-
Parking Hack: On hot summer weekends, the small car park fills up by 10:00 AM. Arrive early or visit on a weekday to avoid the crowds.
-
Combine with a Pie: No trip to Macquarie Pass is complete without stopping at the famous Robertson Pie Shop at the top of the pass for a post-swim treat. Discover more NSW swimming spots in our complete guide.
